| Darla Messner grew
up in Prince George with fabulous parents and a great big brother,
Mike. She was raised in a quiet neighborhood with a house full
of pets. Some of her earliest memories involve dressing up her
mellow tabby cat and carting it around in her doll carriage.
Darla and her brother would drive their 75 pound golden retriever
around on the front seat of their Honda 70 motorcycle.

After attending the College of New Caledonia, Darla had enough of
the cold, snowy winters and left Prince George to seek adventure.
She moved to Gibsons and worked in a heavy duty mechanic shop, for
a family friend, for a few years before applying to Eagle Ridge.
In 2002, Darla and her husband Karl adopted their first son, Sean,
from Chicago, Illinois. They met their second son, Nofa in Davis
Bay in 2004. He was visiting from Haiti with a missonary group.
After meeting the engaging 6 year old (who didn't speak any english)
they couldn't get him off their minds and decided to adopt him 2
months later.
